Samir Mehta: “It ruled.”

Ruled is a tough word for this one, but it was an amazing depiction of an utter tragedy. The filmmakers really did a remarkable job of adding layers of humanity to the life of a young man who would be unknown to us if not for the tragic way he died. Michael B. Jordan continues to be an amazing young actor and he deserves some awards attention here. The script is also remarkable for taking us through the nuances of the man's life and showing his strengths and flaws. When the tragedy finally happens, as it must (this is not a spoiler, it's shown in the first minute of the film), it's still wrenching. A must see.
