since I restarted school music has become a more dominant part of my daily activities. I have used up/worn out a number of pairs of headphones finally inventing in a set of Grado's and a CMoy amp so I can tune out the world while I am in the studio. my taste in music has changed significantly in the last 2 years......while I still enjoy punk rock and hardcore, I have been listening to a lot of acoustic music lately, decemberist, mumford and sons etc, but the real change has been how much Jazz (hiromi) and Jazz based breakbeat, I can only sculpt efficiently when I have a consistant beat (Mocean worker, Mr Scruff, Hexstatic, Xploding Plastix, Propellerheads etc) if woodchips are flying chances are I have jazz breakbeat between my ears. I really can't think of a time when I'm creating that I'm not listening to music

Pandora......for me its like a buffet where I can taste different things before I shop for myself.....and yeah Indie rock also weighs heavily in my daily work. we usually have Pandora on in the studio though I do not always listen to it

awaiting surgery
I went into work yesterday...getting through the security turnstile that has replace the front doors of my building was more effort than I was expecting. The Elevator was not restful and when I finally did get to my office someone stole my heater (my office is so cold in the spring/summer/fall that an electric heater is required or icicles form from your breath (this isn't a joke). OK I have what is called closed angles in my eye's which although I have no symptoms is considered a precursor to glaucoma...I've known this for a couple of years and since my maternal grandfather had glaucoma and my father has the same problem with his eyes I've really just been putting off having corrective surgery since I returned from Japan 2 years ago. What this means is that the eye's drains which are behind the iris are not as open as they should be which can lead to increased fluid pressure in the eye and posible damage to the optic nerve, or so they tell me. OK my trip around the Mediterranean sea was pleasant enough, Cyprus would be a great place to visit anytime not in the winter. Less than 20% of the city of Limasol was open, which made doing anything including eating an adventure. Lots of ruins, did anyone know that Cyprus is/was the birthplace of Aphrodite, I didn't. My sculpture Professor decided that the burner we use for melting metal wasn't working out well, since it was designed for a forge and not a furnace he had a furnace burner made.....it used to take hours to melt 20lb of bronze, it took us 40 minutes yesterday. at least for the next 6 weeks I get to visit the doc every Thursday...today was awesome the PA at my Orthopedist is a genius at casting..the cast/splint I received at the hospital was comfortable for all of two days and then after the swelling dropped it was all angles and uncomfortable...getting Go »

I'm glad to hear that you've found so much pleasure in new music. As much as I'd like to drown out the noise around me, I find that I can't listen to music at work too often, because I face too many interruptions to get deep into it. I've created lots of stations on Pandora and enjoyed many -- the hair metal station seeded with Def Leppard and Bon Jovi would make Aaron Shurtleff proud -- but unexpectedly, indie rock is the one I keep coming back to. I've been happy to add some of its best to Rock Block: Metric, Ting Tings, Sounds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I should have gotten into these bands a long time ago.
