New adventures in Pain...

Well my cast was cut off yesterday...I got to take my first long bath without help in 7 weeks...oh did it feel nice. Today I spent to much time walking and needed a vicodine early...which is probably why I had a urinalysis today, I'm certainly gonna pop positive for narcotics this time..not that I care it's prescribed. i finally got in to see my Primary Care Manager doctor, he was happy to see me weight bearing scheduled my physical therapy and told me to go for a swim. Swimming was good but depressing...the day before I broke my ankle I swam a mile and a half (50 laps) and spent 30 minutes treading water holding a 10bs weight over my head...I did 20 minutes with no weight and a whopping 13 laps before I was completely exhausted....heat helps the flexibility but does nothing for the pain...ice kills the pain but causes my already guitar string tight Achilles to tighten so no ice just stretching motrin and painkillers

awaiting surgery
I went into work yesterday...getting through the security turnstile that has replace the front doors of my building was more effort than I was expecting. The Elevator was not restful and when I finally did get to my office someone stole my heater (my office is so cold in the spring/summer/fall that an electric heater is required or icicles form from your breath (this isn't a joke). My uncle died last friday...it wasn't unexpected, 3rd bout with cancer, but it hurt none the less. I've been out of the country for about 16 years so the fact that I am stateside means I needed to go. Go »the toils of being a home owner
just when you think that everything is groovy boom your furnace burps blowing all the seals and well $6000 later you can have heat again. Mind you it was 12degrees yesterday when this happened and at present I can't keep my house any hotter than 55degree's or the house fills with smoke...not to mention that the soonest I can get a new furnace installed is thursday. a 07:30 phone call saying ooppsss uimmmm well it turns out that you are gonna have to go after all and we are gonna have to send 2 teams is not that way I wanted to start the day. Neither is sweet talking the travel clerk who's day we ruined yesterday to redo all the work she did yesterday....however other than cancelling my New Years plans, a ride with my dad and a climb with my brother, this on again off again travel thing isn't too much of a burden. After spending the morning cleaning and setting up for a visit from my inlaws (looking forward to that being over) I spent the afternoon Downhill skateboarding with a bunch of guys...life is so simple with a bit of speed. I'm the 4th guy to enter the screen, Black shirt, Blue helmet, Pink wheels trying to stay in the draft of the two kids in a tight draft train. Go »

Good to hear that you are doing better, seemingly. I'm sure it will be no time at all before you're skateboarding downhill at speeds I don't want to think about!! :)
