Ok this is new england it's not supposed to be this hot...I'm sure Amy actually feels at home but it's been too long since I lived in Guam this is hot. I had plans for this weekend but instead other than a dump run I tried to stay in and stay cool. I failed on both accounts because I needed to do some work in my garage...even the dog was unhappy spending time outside and readily accepted being hosed off. But my garage is more organized though still not clean...I got rid of a kayak...got our bikes hung from the rafters and after not accomplishing enough ended up soaked to the skin

The highlight of my weekend was the realization that our new computer fund was full...so i have a new (to me) refurb Macbook on its way to me this week...I finally get to become completely bilingual. I have been looking forward to switching to a Mac for the last few years, my complete annoyance with windows and my present computer's continuing registry errors and I'm ready for a change...

Four Replies to sticky nasty weekend

You get used to every summer day being hot here, so you almost don't notice when there's a real scorcher. Friends up north have to point out the scalding temperatures across the country for it to sink in. I've heard from several this weekend.

oh I know I lived in Guam for 4 years, In Guam it only drops out of the 90's (with 100% humidity) when a typhoon rolls through...and most of that temperture drop is windchill; 100-200mph winds chill regardless of the ambient temp. I'm just whining because I don't like hot weather, and days like today (also in the high 90's) make me yearn for someplace like Portland

It always seems that 2-3 books that I have been patiently are all released by the publishers at the same time...such was the case for me with Wrath of a Mad God and the latest Dresden files book Small Favor...unsure which one I wanted to read more I switched from day to day reading one and then the other. My Suitcase

OK my trip around the Mediterranean sea was pleasant enough, Cyprus would be a great place to visit anytime not in the winter. Less than 20% of the city of Limasol was open, which made doing anything including eating an adventure. Lots of ruins, did anyone know that Cyprus is/was the birthplace of Aphrodite, I didn't. Go »

Yet another funeral

one of the nice things about coming home after nearly 20 years away is that I get to see family the bad part is that the most common place to see family is at a funeral. Unlike last summer the weather was glorious so we have a couple of hundred people come to lay my Uncle Donny to rest. Everything was pretty straight until one of the grandchildren laid a Hot Wheels car of a 68 Chevelle, exactly like the one Donny drove for nearly 40 years, in the grave. Go »
