Today is Liberation day. I brought a suit case to work with me and am moving into my new apartment after work today. Moving the rest of the furniture this weekend, I can't wait. However, Comcast is now officially on my shit list. We have tried setting up cable several times, and they kept telling us we couldn't do it until the previous tenants cancelled. We called yesterday and they told us there's a pending cancel for the 17th, and after that we could get cable hooked up. Needless to say, we were pissed. We told them how unacceptible this is, and they moved the cancellation up to the 9th, and then we can call. Since we're both going to England on the 11th, it's not the end of the world, and we'll be getting HBO On Demand, so I'll be able to see the Entourage I'm missing.

Good luck, Scott. My own limited experience with Comcast (one year) has been very negative. Every time I made an appointment to have someone come out and fix my broken system, they changed the time on me. I'd take off a whole day from work only to call at 5pm and find out they moved it to next week, then the next week I'd come home the day before the scheduled appointment and discover an answering machine message saying "This is Comcast, we're outside your door, where are you?" This happened several times over a few weeks; once I even made an appointment, then called back fifteen minutes later to confirm and discovered it had already been changed. There's only one explanation for service that bad, which is that it's intentional (the specific technological problem I had wasn't easy to fix to customer satisfaction), and the appropriate response to that kind of service to take your business elsewhere as soon as you discover it.

We thought about DirecTV Lori, but we cannot get a dish in our apartment, we'll just have to deal with them.

The Flight from hell

So, here's the story from my flight back from England. I flew back from Gatwick airport, which was a blessing in disguise because Heathrow was a nightmare. The people I was traveling with all had earlier flights than me, and since we had to check out of the hotel, I just went to the airport early. Go »
