Scott Hardie: “It was ok.”

I have been negative about previous Shrek movies, which I considered overrated, but I didn't dislike this one. It seemed fine for a kids movie, well-animated and fleet-footed even. But I watched it while captively waiting in the ER, and 80% of it was on mute, so perhaps there were obnoxious jokes or off-putting vocal performances that would have made it less pleasant under normal circumstances. The unfortunately-named Puss has always been one of the standout characters of the Shrek films, and he makes a natural hero. I would be willing to watch this with the sound on someday. If that's faint praise, well, a faint movie calls for it.
